Engine
The Fortuner comes to India with a 3.0 Litre TDCI D-4D, 168 Bhp, diesel engine under its hood. The engine churns out a powerful 161 Bhp @ 3400 rpm with a maximum torque of 343 Nm @ 1400 rpm. The engine is mated with a 5-Speed Manual gear box with ECT. The Fortuner comes with an all wheel drive configuration. The typical mileage is 10.2 / 14.6 kmpl (city/highway) but off-roading drinks more fuel.
Design And Comfort
The Fortuner is huge for its mid size SUV segment. The style is muscular and classy at once. Fortuner is adorned with a hood scoop that adds style to its large stance. The powerful headlamps are curved around the grille to create a mesmerizing effect. Moreover, the fog lamps housed on the large bumpers calls for attention. The beautifully crafted roof rail accentuates the good looks of the SUV. The rear end is lined with the large tail lamps. 17inch alloy wheels are standard on the Fortuner.
Interiors
Toyota Fortuner can easily boast of a spacious interior. The interior is decked up with a double-tone dashboard and leather upholstery. A touch-screen interface is installed on the dashboard for easy maneuvering of audio system, GPS etc. The Climatronic AC system is placed below it. The driver is pampered with a tilt-adjust steering. There is ample of legroom with comfortable sitting for seven persons in three rows of seat. The seats come with six-directional adjustment. The third row can be folded sidewise to accommodate more luggage and other equipment. There are lots of bottle holders and the rear fold-down seats splits and allows for access to the two fold up 3rd row seats.
Ride And Handling
The Fortuner is equipped with independent Double-Wishbone Suspension with Coil Springs and Stabilizers up front. While a rear 4-Link Suspension with Coil Springs and Lateral Rod ensures optimum vehicle stability. The 4x4 drive has exceptional all terrain capabilities which ensures maximum grip and efficient handling. The big wheels and the suspension absorb all the shocks and give you an almost bump less ride.

Safety
Safety of passengers is considered as prime with state of the art features such as ABS, and SRS airbags in front. There point seat belts are standard on the front seats and side seats on the middle row. The middle central seats possess a 2 point set belt. There is a unique sonar system which tells you of obstructions on the back while reversing or parking. The high mounted stop lamp adds to rear safety. The rigid body and high quality brake systems ensure the ultimate safety and grip.

The only variant available is the 3.0 MT with a price tag of Rs. 18, 45,000/-(ex-showroom, New Delhi). There are 5 colours available; Grey Mica Metallic, Silver Mica Metallic, Black Mica, Super White and Light Blue Metallic. Recently a limited Anniversary edition was launched in exclusive White Pearl Mica. The 250 cars only edition featured a Front bumper spoiler, a Rear bumper spoiler, Rear roof spoiler and a Chrome muffler cutter. The anniversary edition was pegged at Rs. 20, 45,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
