Engine
Their is only one engine available , but we have no complaints as it is a 3.0-litre V6 Turbo Diesel Direct Injection (TDI) V6 diesel engine that delivers maximum of 240 PS at 4000 rpm and 550 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm. Also engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic tiptronic transmission that delivers good fuel economy and helps to avoid hassles in tough off-road conditions. The transmission also features a driver-oriented Dynamic Shift Program (DSP) that helps the driver to shift gears smoothly. Touareg is capable of speeds of up to 200km/h with the V6 which accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 9.9 seconds. The mileage dwindles around 8.9 kmpl for the city and 9.11kmpl for the highway.
Design And Comfort
The Touareg's design though not cutting edge, is elegant muscular and aggressive. It will quickly be noticed due its front which embodies a chrome style shield shaped radiator grill, beautiful head light casings and chrome trim. The R18 "valley" alloy wheels add to the whole look. This is complimented by a chrome surround for the central air intake and high gloss pillar frames. All these things will definitely pull Touareg out of the SUV crowd in the Indian market.
Interiors
You know it's posh inside if you see a VW badge on the face of a machine and the Touareg is no exception. The lush interior includes a four-zone climatronic automatic climate control system, heated leather seats, multifunction steering wheel with mounted controls for audio, telephone, navigation, and cruise control and a chrome edged dash. The instrument panel looks awesome with two distinct dials for revs and speedo and all the info you need in there. Five persons can sit comfortably in the Touareg. The driver's seat offers high levels of comfort. Though all the leather seats are comfortably contoured, the legroom in the middle is quite tight and stiff. As there is no third row of seats, it offers generous cargo space ideal for outdoors and camping. There is a fantastic audio set available with Touareg which has a 6 cd-changer in the rear and 300W output but a 600-watt Danish hi-fi audio system is available as optional equipment.
Ride And Handling
The Touareg possesses independent front and rear double wishbone suspensions with steel springs and anti-roll bars. The handling is hugely responsive. The Touareg is offered in two-wheel drive configuration but a Four-wheel drive option is available to be added. Navigation system and Bluetooth technology are welcome additions.

Safety
VW's safety standards are never to be questioned and Touareg just re affirms the same. The SUV comes loaded with features such as ABS plus (first time in India), dual-stage airbags for the driver and front passenger, curtain air bags, deactivation facility in the glove compartment for passenger airbag, brake assist system with dual-rate function, Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) and traction control system (TCS).
