From its launch in the pre war era in Germany till the end of its production run in 2003 at Mexico, Beetle has been part of a lot of history. Engine
The New Beetle has a front engine and is a front wheel drive unlike the original Beetle. The only available engine option is a 2L petrol engine. The four cylinder engine has a combined displacement of 1984cc and gives out a maximum power of 116 PS at 5400rpm. It also generates a maximum torque of 172 Nm at 3200rpm. This is mated with a six speed tiptronic automatic gear box. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 8.7 seconds and can attain a top speed of 180km/h. The engine also thirsts less for its size with a decent economy of 13kmpl on highways and 10kmph in cities.

Design And Comfort
The design of the New beetle has been heavily influenced from the old type1 ever since its launch in 1998. In fact the biggest draw for the car is its cute design. The car appears to be smiling when looked from the front. The body is curvaceous and reminds us why the original beetle was called the love bug. The headlights are intricately designed and fit beautifully into the contours. The body is galvanized and apart from the protection also makes the beetle twinkle. The body is designed for high torsional rigidity.

Interiors
The interiors resound of VW's strong workmanship with good materials and sheer genius in design. Everything is in place be it the clock, the outside temp meter, the cup holders or the dials on the instrument panel. The instrument panel has a blue illumination system and comprises a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip-meter, fuel gauge and gear indicator. But be very clear even though the front seats move forward for easy entry of rear passengers the rear seat is not comfortable enough for two full grown passengers. There is also a mp3 compatible gamma radio cd player with Aux in which provides good entertainment.

Ride And Handling
The ergonomic positioning of all utilities and adjustable driving seat ensure better ride quality and easy handling. The independent McPherson Struts with spring coils in the front and independent suspension with pressurized gas shock absorbers on the rear end deliver a super smooth ride.
